Childbirth Education Classes

Course Description

HypnoBirthing® classes consist of twelve hours of instruction taught over a five week period. The course is designed to help the mother and her birth partner replace their fears and tension about the birth process with confidence, calm, and comfort. Specific deep relaxation techniques will be learned and practiced for use during labor.

The class will cover the physiology of the body in labor, and how gracefully it will work when freed from the constraints of fear and anxiety. We will explore the history of modern childbirth and the myths that grew from that history. Birth videos will be shown in which women give birth calmly, with laughter and ease. Parents will complete the course comfortable with the tools they've acquired and ready to welcome their baby with confidence.

Both group classes and private classes are available.

Group Classes

Group classes are small, with a maximum of 5 couples in each session. This size class provides ample time for personal instruction and allows the couples to get to know each other. Group classes usually meet on Sunday evenings from 6 to 8:30. Additional classes will be scheduled if the Sunday evening classes are filled. If Sunday evenings don't work for your schedule, please contact me and we will find a time that meets your needs.

Cost for the group classes is $235.

The course fee includes the book Hypnobirthing: The Mongan Method, and the companion CD of birthing affirmations.

Please ask about financial assistance if cost would prevent you from taking the course. I believe that a relaxed birth should be available to all parents, regardless of their ability to pay.

HypnoBirthing can benefit couples in any stage of pregnancy. It is recommended to start classes by the beginning of your third trimester (or earlier, if you like.) Even if your baby is expected soon, you can still benefit from learning HypnoBirthing techniques.

Private Classes

Private classes can also be scheduled in your home, at The Jade Trade, or at another venue to meet the needs of mothers on bedrest or to eliminate scheduling conflicts. Private classes can run weekly for five weeks, or on an accelerated schedule if needed.

The fee for private classes is $350.

My next group class will begin on Sunday, June 15th, 2008.

Please contact me by e-mail or phone to register for a class or inquire about future classes. A $50 deposit will reserve your space in a group class and allows me to send your book and CD before class begins.
